Just like everything else here, it's not like creating accounts require passports. Sandbox everything. But tbh, never had a virus problem in my many years here.

if you think anything is sus, give it a scan through virustotal to find out what the program does and always use a sandbox environment to test for virus activity. it's been much more rare to see virus posts with bitcoin miners of late (possibly related to the crash or lost interest of crypto)

2 years ago I have downloaded a game from one of green (trusted) users. Its exe-file was infected with a cryptor. Luckily I've found suspicious activity (disabled task manager for example) and checked my pc for viruses before the files started to encrypt. When you downloading from anonymous, you check it carefully. But when you trust some user based on it's status on the tracker, it could be a lot more dangerous.
